Scenes Vol. 2 is the follow-up to 2016’s Scenes Vol. 1 and is a collection of original music from numerous productions including the play Caging Skies (a theatrical adaptation by Desiree Gezentsvey of the novel which became Taika Waititi's Oscar-winning film Jojo Rabbit), the audiobook The Priest, the Witch and the Poltergeist, as well as various short film and solo piano projects.

The album was recorded at home in Wellington, New Zealand, with contributions from musicians around the world including Poland, Russia, the USA, the UK and Austria. It features a more varied instrumental palette than Scenes Vol. 1 with accordion, cimbalom, harp, tuba, trumpet, saxophone and solo violin. “A series of exquisite miniatures: interesting, expressive and surprising melodies, coupled with traditional sounding harmonies that often lead the ear to other places than expected…” (American Record Guide)

“This is tonal, ambient, post-modern, post-Satieian music of lyrical charm and substance. It is not a nostalgic glance backward as much as a step forward in a historically aware, radically tonal vein…I recommend it to you.” (Gapplegate Music Review)

Blackspot - film Soundtrack

Blackspot Soundtrack Cover Image.jpg

The New Zealand indie horror film Blackspot was originally released in 2008. It tells the story of two young men driving the dark roads of New Zealand when their car breaks down, stranding them in the middle of nowhere. Trapped in increasingly hostile surroundings with no means of escape, their friendship is pushed to the limit as a haunting memory is slowly re-counted…

This re-mixed and re-mastered 2018 edition consists of the full soundtrack, with composer Jeremy Cullen playing the piano accompanied by the Felix String Quartet (members of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra). Listen on Spotify here.

“BLACKSPOT feels influenced by David Lynch’s LOST HIGHWAY with a sense of repetition not far removed from GROUNDHOG DAY, but much darker and more sinister in tone. Add in the eerie score from Jeremy Cullen…and you’ve got one Hell of a mind-twisting trip into a nightmarish film”. (wearemoviegeeks.com)
